Emergency - Disk full but don't know what can be deleted or how to proceed

Hi everyone,

I tried contacting support, but they said that I can only get help through VMWare Communities or by purchasing a support incident.  So I tried to purchase a support incident, but the department is closed!!!  I need help ASAP, as my guest server crashed.  I got it temporarily up and running by deleting a 2 GB ISO file that I had saved on the datastore, but I'm afraid it will crash again soon.

I'm running ESXi 5.5.0.  Last night the server crashed and I determined that the physical host ran out of space in the datastore.  See the attached screen shot.  Browsing the datastore, I see four VMDK files and two VWSP files, along with numerous logs and other file types.  The VMDKs are the largest, by far.  However, I have only two virtual disks in the guest configuration:

servername.vmdk (420 GB)

servername_1.vmdk (420 GB)

The datastore browser also shows these two files:

servername-000003.vmdk

servername_1-000003.vmdk

These latter two files, with the -000003 in the name, are not enormous (20 GB for one and 4 GB for the other), though they display a provisioned size of 420 GB each.  What are these files?  Do they represent some sort of "undo" log which can be deleted?

I should mention that I'm totally unfamiliar with snapshots, how to use them or manage them, though as I now look at Snapshot Manager in my console, it shows that there are no snapshots for this VM.  Also, I use Acronis for VMWare for my backup solution.  As the name suggests, it is VM-aware, so this may have something to do with the disk space usage.

Any help appreciated.  As indicated, this is an emergency situation for me.

Thank you,

Brad
