We recently implemented a firewall change for some SQL traffic on one of our LAN segments that seemingly had zero impact (or shouldn't have had any impact) on vCenter <--> host connectivity. We've contact Astaro who say that nothing should be impacted, not related, whatever.
It's pretty simple setup:
4.1 Server 2008 vCenter on 10.0.0.50
three 4.1 hosts on 10.0.0.51, 52, 53
The vCenter server is a guest on the first host.
I've restarted agents via the console on the hosts, no change. I can look up the hosts from the vCenter via DNS, can ping the hosts. Launching a VI client directly to the IP of the host results in
A communication error occurred while sending data to the server. (The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a send.)
From the vCenter server I cannot reach the web pages on any of the hosts - https://10.0.0.51, etc.
Would anyone be able to dumb down the steps to set up some traffic capture to try and nail down where these packets are being dropped, etc?
