Need help installing OpenSSL 0.9.8zd

Greetings,

I first want to let all know that I am not very experienced with Linux. I can can do some minor things (browse directories, look up permissions, shakey with VI).

I guess my first questions is simple: Is it possible to install OpenSSL 0.9.8zd (or later) on a basic build of ESXi 4.1?

It does not have vCenter. It's only the free version (not even clustered).

If it is possible, how do I go about installing it? (remember, I not even a newb...  ;-)

I also have the exact same question for ESXi 5.5.

Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED.
