I recently became the System Admin for a company that was kinda...pieced together. The virtual machines were all over the place, some not even being used, and I needed to do some much needed cleanup and reorganization. The issue is though, when I deleted the unneeded virtual machines, my database storage didn't return to my server to reallocate elsewhere. This is leaving me with only 29GB of space to work with on my server...eek!
Another issue I am running into is reallocated datastorage. I have an already operating VM server for my domain controller, but has way to much storage space (like 500 GB, when it only needs 100) yet the vSphere won't allow me to reduce the HDD size. I event went into the server and unallocated the space I didn't want, but vSphere still won't let me remove the HDD storage allocation from that virtual machine.
