no LUN available when trying to increase datastore

hi All,

running VMware ESXi 4.1.0 348481 on a single host, single datastore.
had 3x 300GB disks running in RAID5. Over weekend i added a fourth disk, through the hosts storage controller i reconfigured to RAID5 over 4 disks successfully.

When VMware boots the datastore hasn't grown...still 552GB, should be 836GB

i have rescanned for datastores and refreshed... then browsed the properties of the datastore, it finds the 835GB

So i click on Increase to see if i can add the extra 280GB of storage space.... but the wizard cannot find anything to extend??

Has anyone came across this before? Do i need to have all virtual machines off to perform this?
Is 4.1.0 unable to do this? I have searched google and these forums and seen a couple of good articles but most relate to the 2TB limit, which im not close too?

Please provide any suggestions below.

Also: The environment is live, so i need non-destructive ideas if there are any solutions. thanks

Regards,
