No available USB devices when trying to connect a USB DVD or BD Drive to a Guest OS

I recently upgraded to a more powerful host server and I am now unable to connect a USB DVD/BluRay Disk Drive to a guest OS.

The Host sees the drive:

[root@vmhost0:~] lsusb

Bus 003 Device 003: ID 0e8d:1806 MediaTek Inc. Samsung SE-208 Slim Portable DVD Writer   <----This is the drive I want to attach to a guest OS.

Bus 003 Device 002: ID 090c:1000 Silicon Motion, Inc. - Taiwan (formerly Feiya Technology Corp.) Flash Drive

Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0e0f:8003 VMware, Inc. Root Hub

Bus 002 Device 002: ID 8087:0024 Intel Corp. Integrated Rate Matching Hub

Bus 001 Device 002: ID 8087:0024 Intel Corp. Integrated Rate Matching Hub

Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0e0f:8002 VMware, Inc. Root Hub

Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0e0f:8002 VMware, Inc. Root Hub

[root@vmhost0:~]

But when I try to add a Host USB Device I get the following message: "No available USB devices."

I have tried with 2 different USB Disk Drives and 2 different USB Cables with the same results.

I connected a USB HDD and am able to attach it to a guest OS with no issues.

Any thoughts?

This is my first post.  Thanks.
