I have only one host in my lab with vcenter running on as VM.
It is possible to "stage" updates but of course to remediate the vcenter server must be shutdown.
At this point of time all needed patches should be located on the esxi.
Is it possible to manual start the remediation after shutting down vcenter server and putting esxi host into maintenance mode?
