Arcconf / CMI - is it working at all?

I have a couple of boxes with The latest ESXi and adaptec controllers.

I've noticed that the CIM provider is now included in the ESXi distribution so I wanted to try arcconf/Adaptec Storage Manager to check the arrai status remotely.

First of all, the CIM service doesn't start automatically despite having it set to "start with the host"

When I do it manually, I confirm the ports are opened and try arcconf from my laptop:

C:\Program Files\Adaptec\Adaptec Storage Manager>arcconf.exe SETVMCREDENTIAL host 5989 root password

I get a

Command failed.

as a response.

Equally trying to access using Storage manager it fails.

Lats piece of info:

#esxcli software vib list | grep arcconf

arcconf                        1.00-1                                Adaptec   unknown             2012-11-16

Am I doing anything wrong? Or is this just broken?
