Dear Community,
we have run into the following issue:
- there is a prod VM with several VMDKs
- when trying to Storage vMotion the VM vCenter reports the following: The virtual machine has virtual disks 'Hard disk 1, 2, 3' in linked-mode that prevents migration, and the VM cannot be storage vMotiioned
- snapshot manager is empty
- consolidate or revert to snapshot option is greyed out
- on the disk the VM really has one snapshot per disk
- the .vmsn file tells us that the current live disks are the snapshot VMDKs. This is also backed by inspecting last modification time of snapshot files.
My question is how we can resolve this issue. I'd go with the process described here: VMware KB: Committing snapshots in vSphere when more than 32 levels of snapshots are present fails with the error: T…
Although the error message is different, the symptoms look very similar.
Any comments/ideas are welcome, thank you.
