Hi all,
I have a problem with updating / migrating my esxi 5.5 environment (3 esxi server and one vsphere 5.5 vcenter) to esxi 6.7.
What I have already done:
- Deleted one esx 5.5 host from 5.5 vcenter
- manual clean installation to esx 6.7
- installation of a new vcenter server in version 6.7 with configuration of dstrubuted switches, SAN drives etc...
After that I deregistered 2 test VMs (VM Version 8), witch are stored on a EMC SAN, from 5.5 vcenter and registered it to vcenter 6.7.
When I tried to start the vms I receive blue screens all the time. "Bad system config info" it says in the blue screen.
Doing some trouble shoot I found out, that it is not possible to update from esx 5.5 to esx 6.7. So I installed an esxi 6.0 U3 server without a vcenter server.
I deregistered the 2 test VMs from esx 6.7 and registered the VMs to esx 5.5, just to verify that they are still running. I received no blue screens.
So I registered them to the esx 6.0 U3 and started them. Same blue screen.
After that I went back to esx 5.5 and updated the VMs version to VM version 10.
Starting them on ESX 6.0 U3 is still receive the same blue screens.
I have read that I do not have to update the VMs. Is that correct? Do I have to convert them? What can I do or what did I do wrong?
Thanks for your help.
Regards Sven
