Storage disconnect with Windows 1809 on VMFS 6

We have an issue that's eerily similar to the Windows 10 slow startup on VMFS 6, but since it is different I'm creating a new post.

Condition:  Windows 10 1809 guest. One or more snapshots. VMFS v6.81.

Observation:  When vm is powered on, the host will randomly disconnect from not only the VMFS 6.81 volume but other volumes attached to the host as well. The guests of course lose their connection to storage, and we see a Windows LSI_SAS reset error.

There's no impact to other hosts, even if they are connected to storage shared by the original host.

We do not see the storage disconnect behavior on:

-  earlier Windows builds; I've tested 1709 and 1607.

-  VMFS 5, or the latest VMFS 6.82 (when formatted in ESXi 6.7 U2)

-  VM guests without snapshots

Has anybody else seen this? I have a support ticket open but there's no sign of any progress.
