esxi and netapp MTU

We have a Vmware 6.0 cluster and using Netapp FAS2240-4 (8.23) for storage.

Each esxi host is using hardware iscsi has vmhba1 and vmhba2 configured with an ip address each

on an esxi host if I check the MTU for the iscsi adapter I see:

[root@dev-svr-03:~] esxcfg-hwiscsi -l vmhba1

DHCP Configuration Disabled

ARP Redirection Disabled

MTU Size = 8342

This seems to be the maximum the card we are using can support as mentioned here:MTU question

Our switch is set to 9198 and the netapp is set to 9000.

Should they all be set to 8342?

Also how can I test the mtu settings. I've seen you can vmkping but how can I do that from vmhba1 as it's doesn't have a network interface but is assigned an ip address?
