Hello all, I am new to the VMWare forums. We have a ESXi 6.7 Update 1 installation with a vm host (CentOS Linux 7) originally provisioned as a thick disk (120GB) installation during automated build process. Successfully used the VMFStools to change the virtual disk to be thin provisioned (24 GB), vm is configuired to use EFI to boot. We are trying to export the Linux vm so that it can be hosted on another ESXi 6.7 U1 host.
- The export to OVF process resulted in two files being created in the download folder (vmhost.xml(?) and vmhost.vmdk).
- In the esxi host task panel, the export to template process never completes and terminates properly even though the two files appear to be created successfully.
- During a verification process (recreate a vm by using the newly exported files) a new vm host is established on the esxi.
- Upon start up the vm is unable to locate the virtual disk. cannot locate grub.efi
Anyone seen this before? Is there a way to recreate the corrupt file?
