I am working on a problem where a thin disk is over allocated (the LUN is
1.92TB and the vmdk is thin provisioned to 2TB). I am concerned why the VM
would eating up free space on the
datastore when the Windows 2008 R2 guest has over 140GB free. There are no snapshots
or other files on this volume. Has anyone seen this before? This is ESX 4.1.0.
The Windows guest is running shadow copies, but when I stoped the schedule it didn't
make a difference. The guest does have some compressed files, but would that
cause the VM to look to the datastore for more space intead of the 140GB free
on the volume in Windows?
