I've recently just brought a dedicated co-located server and within the sellers control panel for it I have the option to reinstall the OS via a script. Amongst a number of OS choices are 2 options for an ESXi OS.
Rather than obviously being of different version numbers however, like 5.5 and 6.5, these 2 options are titled as:
ESXi 6.5 (x86_x64)
and
ESXi 6.5 Targeted (x86_x64)
I tried asking the seller what the difference between a 'targeted' and 'non-targeted' installation was but rather alarming and surprisingly they openly admitted they don't know and suggested asking here instead.
So here I am hoping someone can tell me what the difference is between these 2 options please?
