Hello all,
I am trying to physically move some SSDs from an ESXi 5.5 host I need to retire to an ESXi 6.7 host. In previous ESXi releases where I could connect using the VSphere client, I could just import the existing VMFS signature when creating a datastore using an existing drive, but now every time I go to create a datastore, it does not give me that option, only to use the over-provisioning space or to overwrite the entire SSD and destroy the existing partition. It knows that it is a VMFS5 partition, because when I go to view existing partitions, it shows it as a VMFS5, it just never gives me an option to import the existing signature. In 6.5 I always had to do this through the VSphere client (until it was no longer available) and could never do it through the webUI (it would do the same thing, never give the option where the client would give the option) so I am guessing this is a missing feature (HOW??????) in the WebUI, but hopefully someone will have some information that can help me.
I really would prefer to just move the existing SSDs instead of moving things, mainly for timing reasons and (less so, but still existent consideration) for storage-space and IO performance reasons.
Thank you for taking the time to read and hopefully help me.
