Hello,
I'm experiencing weird issue with vms which occasionally loose the network. The only way to restore the situation is to log at the vm console do a disable/enable of the network card (under the OS) and then the network restart working and the machine responds to ping.
This problem impact vms in Windows 2008/2008 R2.
There are NO events in Windows log.
The vm just stop responding to ping/incoming connections.(NO ERRORS !!??)
Impacted VMs have the vmware tools running and the vm hardware version is 7.
Context :
vcenter 5 (on W2K8R2)
ESXi/ESX 4.1 host (60 hosts)
Hardware : Fujitsu RX...
VMs: +/- 1000 (W2K3,2K8, 2K8R2 and Linux)
no dvSwitch
Vlan tagging
Storage : SAN FC/ISCSI
We're experiencing this issue since months without being able to fix. Now we're busy upgrading our hosts to ESXi 5.1 and we hope it will definitely fix this problem. (Our migration should be finished end of october)
Today some VMs from our critical prod environment have been impacted that's why I posting here, maybe someone has an idea that could help...
regards.
