Running on Windows 10 workstation 32GB RAM, 8 cores. I am evaluating the possibility of doing a P2V of a number of Linux machines.
I used vCenter Convertor 6.2 to convert a Centos 7 machine with an evaluation copy of a ESXRi 6.5 server running inside a VM (Workstation Player 14.1).
The P2V worked perfectly though it took 12 hours. I suppose for over 1TB of data that is not too bad.
Now I want to export the newly created VM machine to OVF format.
I used the ESXRi web interface to "Export..." the Centos 7 VM.
This has proved to be very slow. I am running the web interface on the same machine as the VM yet the export is proceeding at a snails pace - maximum of 10MB/second.
This is just not a practical process. Am I just hoping for too much here? Are there any alternatives to using the web interface?
