First, gotta say I'm loving ESXi. Got it installed on a Proliant M10, and it runs like a dream.
But I am having an issue.
I have a VM of Server 2017, with an instance of Sql Express 2017 running on it. The issue is, I cannot seem to connect to the SQL instance from SSMS on any other machine on the network. Is there something in ESXi that could possibly be blocking the connection? I already tried creating a firewall rule and reloaded the ruleset. I even unloaded the firewall module, but no dice at all. Just wondering if there is anything else I should try in respects to the ESXi installation.
If any of you have encountered this issue before, regardless of the cause, I'd love to hear from you anyways. From a SQL perspective (in case anyone is interested), I have:
* Turned of Windows firewall on the Server 2017 VM running the SQL Express installation.
* Turned on remote connections in the Sql Server config.
* Turned on TCP on the SQL Server config.
* On remote side, stopped Antivirus and created firewall rules for port 1433 (I even stopped windows firewall for testing on that end as well).
I can SSH to the ESXi host, and can RDP into the SQL VM.
I did try searching the forums, but found nothing that could help. If this is posted in the wrong location, my apologies.
Oh yeah, running ESXi 6.5.
