I'm quite new to Vmware ESXi any did a complete clean install 2 days ago. Since then I'm struggeling to get a new datastore online. I'm using a HP ProLiant ML350p Gen8 Server. Installing VmWare ESXi went without no problems. I installed in on the onboard SD-card. In my drive-cage i'm using 3.5 inch drives. The strange thing is that I can install datastores on the original HP SAS drives but cannot install them in WB Red SATA drives. I tried to delete partitions, recreate them, format them on other systems, etc. But everytime i try to create a datastore on these drives I get the following error:
Failed to create VMFS datastore [name] - Operation failed, diagnostics report: Unable to create Filesystem, please see VMkernel log for more details: Failed to create VMFS on device [devicename]
