So, here is the back story. Received a call from a business, who had lost access to their Esxi box. Their old IT guy apparently got upset for some reason and changed root passwords and skipped town. Then they brought someone in, who tried to change the passwords, but seems to have made things even worse. From what I can tell, he likely tried to change the root password using a live Linux CD/USB and now the system doesn't boot. It boots to ESXI, goes through loading, flashes some red text and then a black screen. If I boot it up to an Ubuntu Live USB drive, the start.tgz file is over 1MB in size. Any thoughts or ideas on how to get this thing back up? Thanks in advance!
