I have been using ESXi servers for a decade now. This was a problem at the beginning and has gotten worse, if that is possible.
Why would ANYONE go through the trouble to create an alarm and warning system that has allarms like.
"Host Memory" - what's wrong with host memory, is it full, memory errors, has vmware forgotten something? yeah, they forgot to include a useful and actionable description for their error messages.
or
"Problem" with a detailed description of "there is a problem"
The warnings and alarms tell you ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about the issue that they are referencing or how to resolve them. IT IS THE WORST IN THE COMPUTER INDUSTRY. Horrible, wrong, bad, useless. This has bothered me for so long that it can't just be me. Why, why, why, why, why, do they bother to detect error states and issue warnings, if they are going to keep the details regarding the problem a secret.
In the unlikely event that someone at VMware is paying attention, this is what a useful Alarm might look like:
Alarm: Host [WinBox2] Memory more than 90% full. Either take action on the host [WinBox2] to reduce memory usage or reconfigure the host [WinBox2] to allocate more memory (click here to edit host resources). If you'd like to alter the alarm threshold for host memory click here.
Maybe VMware should hire people who have worked with computers before, then they might know how annoying it is to get a meaningless, un-actionable error message. They'd be embarrassed to pump out that sort of idiot Alarm.
Alarm! - details: There is an alarm triggered. I'll let you guess as to what it is about. Isn't this fun?

Warning - A service has changed from a green state to a yellow state.
GREAT I'll just pop into the color control panel and fix that right away.... dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb. The COLOR is not what the IT manager needs... it is the actual problem details that need to be conveyed.
