We are in the process of migrating a number of very large VMs from one vShpere host (5.5) to another (6.5). Both hosts are connected to vCenter. The VMs are usually copied using the migrate function in vCenter.
To try and speed up the copy process, we have created a dedicated network on separate interfaces with the MTU set to 9000. My question is if there is any way to force the migrate process to use this network instead of the VM Management network? If not, what would the fastest way be to copy the VMs across? Would it simply be to open a SCP connection on the dedicated migration network and copy it over SCP? Any other ideas or recommendations?
