Uploading VMDK files to datastore

Hi,

We are migrating relatively small workload from hyper-v to VMware.

For reasons I won't get into here, we have ended up with a bunch of VMDKs, which we need to upload to a datastore.

The environment is a lab, with two vSphere 6 hosts using direct attached storage, managed by a vCenter appliance and licensed with Enterprise plus.

I have tried:uploading to the datastore....

  • Via web and thick client - with speeds around 5-6MBps
  • Via WinSCP - with speeds around 6MBps.
  • Via WGET, i.e. pulling from the vSphere host, with speeds around 6MBps

There is only a single management NIC on each server, which some people have suggested is the issue.

I've also seen reports where inbound file copies are locked to 6MBps.

Any ideas?
