Need to add hardware (RAM,HDD) for ESXi single (standalone)

Hi,

I need to add more hardware for 1 single esxi host. Running (5) VM-guests. Along with Veeam backup (VM). Need to make sure have good backup hostANDguest prior to upgrade hardware. What's the best way to perform this task.
